Mergers & Acquisitions in November 2014
252 acquisitions were publically announced in November in what is set up to be a strong end to the calendar year.
November was particularly notable for a 16 percent rise in Global private equity investment to $34 billion, according to online deals database Zephyr. This figure is largely attributed to eleven deals each worth in excess of $1 billion.
BWSC PCL’s acquisition of Eco2 Ltd’s Biomass plant in Snetterton, East Anglia was the most high profile deal of the month. Valued in excess of £150 million, the acquisition represents the third of its kind within the past three years, totalling £490 million. The sale reaffirms Eco2 Ltd’s prominent position as the leading biomass developer in the UK.
November also saw the announcement that Co-Operative Group Ltd had agreed a deal to sell Aegis Security Services Ltd to Texas-headquartered Cardtronics Inc. The cash deal is valued at around £41.5 million, including £6.5 million to be paid subject to timing of the transfer and achievement of certain performance conditions.
