Mergers & Acquisitions in June 2015
The most high profile deal of the month was the acquisition of Center Parcs (UK) Group Ltd by Canadian investment group, Brookfield Property Partners. Although the final deal value was undisclosed, Brookfield’s bid was thought to be roughly around £2.4 billion.
Blackstone, the previous owner of Center Parcs, which operates five holiday resorts across the UK, opted to sell the company rather than float it.
Center Parcs chief executive Martin Dalby commented, “Under Blackstone’s ownership, Center Parcs has flourished, and I would like to thank them for their support and commitment to our business.
“Brookfield has demonstrated a real understanding of our business and I am absolutely convinced that we can work together to achieve our strategic goals.”
Other notable deals in June include Greene King plc’s £752 million acquisition of Spirit Pub Company plc, operators of the Fayre & Square, Chef & Brewer and Wacky Warehouse brands, whilst Ferhoding UK Ltd paid £70 million for the remaining 70% of the shares of high street cholcatier Throntons plc.
