Mergers & Acquisitions in January 2015

In the first month of 2015, 240 acquisitions were publically announced on the M&A deals database, Zephyr. According to Thomson Reuters, worldwide M&A activity in January reached $232.9 billion, the highest January figure since 2011.

One of the highlights of the month was the announcement that Biogen Idec Inc. has agreed to acquire Convergence Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a London, UK-based pain recovery biopharmaceutical drugs developer.  The consideration is valued at up to $675 million.

Another notable deal during the month was the announcement that BRS Ventures & Holdings had completed the acquisition of Travelex for approximately £900 million.
