M&A activity at its highest level since 2007

A recent report by Thomson Reuters has revealed that M&A activity reached £2.3 trillion in 2014. The review shows that more than 40,000 M&A deals were announced in 2014 – representing a 6 % increase on 2013.

Global M&A activity was at its strongest towards the end of 2014 with £610 billion worth of deals concluded in Q4 – this figure represented a 7% rise on Q3 and made it the strongest closing quarter since 2006.

2015 will see many business owners finally allowing themselves to explore new markets and are using M&A as a way to achieve strategic growth. In terms of deal volumes and values, 2014 was a record year for M&A and it is anticipated that 2015 will see increasing values through a surge in buyer demand.
